After their initial split in 1989 and the cessation of the band after Grant McLennan's death (2006) the various band members of The Go-Betweens went onto form various bands/acts/solo projects. This article looks at a few of my favourite acts involving ex The Go-Betweens members that have blessed my collection over the years.

Album Review: 16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens (1988) (Mushroom Records)



After this album the main line up of The Go-Betweens split up. The band would reform 12 years later in the early 2000s but at this point the band was really just held together by the allure of the Forster / McLlennan song-craft as opposed to the inimitable cohesive and strangely intimate atmosphere that the original line-up exuded as a definitive band.

Album Review - Bright Yellow Bright Orange by The Go-betweens (2003) (Trifekta Records)



After a 12 year hiatus, phase II of The Go-Betweens started with the The Friends of Rachel Worth album (2000). At the time this album was slightly denigrated from two perspectives. Initially a large number of music snobs, who could not actually recall their late 1980's heyday, presumed that they would be a 'quirkfest' reflecting bands such as Pavement and Belle & Sebastian who had declared themselves devotees.
